Your First Visit
Wausau, WI

Your first visit starts at the waiting room and reception area at Wanserski Dental Center for Complex Dentistry in Wausau, WIIf you are new to our office, welcome! At Wanserski Dental Center for Complex Dentistry, it is our goal to provide you with the best oral care possible in a safe, comfortable environment. Because it is your first time with us, there will be some things that will need to be taken care of. Here is what you can expect during your very first visit.

Requesting Your Old Paperwork

Before your actual appointment, it can be helpful for you to ask your old dentist to fax over your old records from their office. If your old dentist is not that far away, you can also go into the office and request a copy of your records and bring them with you to your appointment.

Filling Out Patient Paperwork

Even if you obtain a copy of your old records, or have a copy sent to us, you will still need to fill out new patient paperwork. You can access the patient forms you need to fill out on our website and fill them out ahead of time. If not, our receptionists will ask you to fill them out in the office. The forms you will need to fill out include your personal information, your insurance information, a health history, and a dental history. You will also need to sign forms regarding patient consent and acknowledgement of patient privacy.

Going Over Your Concerns

Before we begin your dental exams and dental cleanings, one of our dental hygienists will meet with you to discuss your concerns. This includes if you are currently experiencing any discomfort or other issues and if you deal with dental fear or anxiety. The goal of this meeting is to get to know you so that we can tailor your treatment to your specific needs. This way, you feel completely safe and comfortable while you are in our care.

Your Cleaning and Exam

Next, we will perform your cleaning and exam. During your cleaning, we can remove plaque, bacteria, and other debris stuck to the surfaces of your teeth. Removing this buildup is crucial for preventing serious oral health complications. The length of time it takes to perform your cleaning will depend upon the amount of buildup present. During your exam, we can assess the condition of your teeth and gums, and determine the presence of issues such as cavities and gum disease. We may also take X-rays as well, which will allow us to see the condition of your tooth roots and jawbone. If you have recently had X-rays done at your last appointment, this may not be necessary. However, if it has been a while since your last dental appointment, they will be a crucial part of assessing the health of your whole mouth.

Scheduling Your Next Appointment

Once your appointment is complete, it is time to schedule your next appointment. Regular dental appointments are recommended every 6 months. If you need any specific treatments, such as fillings, dental crowns, or others, these will also be scheduled.
