Tooth Whitening

Group of young adults smilingWhen you look in the mirror, are you happy with the smile you see reflected at you? Many people struggle with the appearance of their teeth, leading to dissatisfaction with how their smile looks when they share it with their peers. Having stains and discoloration on your teeth can deal a major blow to your self-esteem, making it harder to form relationships or even enjoy something as simple as laughing at a joke without worrying about how your teeth look.

When we meet a patient who has discolored teeth, we understand right away how they must be feeling. That is why we are pleased to offer professional tooth whitening here at Wanserski Dental Center for Complex Dentistry, allowing them to feel happy and confident once more with their smile.

What Causes Tooth Discoloration for Most People?

Tooth discoloration can be caused by many different factors. For many people, the color of their teeth is largely determined by genetics. However, certain lifestyle considerations can change the color of your teeth, too. Smoking is not only bad for your health, but it can also tarnish the appearance of your teeth, leading to discoloration from smoke and tar. Foods and beverages can change your tooth color, too, such as coffee and red wine. Finally, teeth can start to appear yellowed with age.

Benefits of Professional Tooth Whitening

There are many benefits to getting a professional tooth whitening with us in our office. Unlike using generic over-the-counter kits which can deliver questionable results at best, you can rest assured that you will get the results you desire when you whiten your teeth with us. We use only professional grade products, which means that they will get your teeth brighter and whiter. Your results will also last longer, preventing you from accidentally over-treating your teeth.

Getting your teeth whitened with us is also safer than if you attempted to do it yourself at home with a store-bought kit. We strongly advise against trying to whiten your teeth on your own, as it can be dangerous and the ingredients in them may be unregulated. Our tooth whitening products are regulated and contain only approved ingredients in it. Furthermore, we will carefully monitor you, to help ensure that there is no damage to your enamel or gums during the procedure.

Who is a Good Candidate for Whitening?

Professional tooth whitening can be beneficial to many of our patients. Good candidates for a professional tooth whitening are patients who do not have active tooth decay or gum disease. If you do have tooth decay or gum disease, we will need to address it first. Tooth whitening also does not work on certain types of dental restorations such as dental veneers, teeth that have been bonded, or teeth that have dental crowns on them.

Getting a professional tooth whitening procedure done can be a straightforward and non-invasive way to boost your confidence and improve the appearance of your smile.
